On October 17, 2024 Mrs. Rankel's 7th grade science students participated in a Living Water Lab at Creekside Conservancy. The Creekside Conservancy is a land conservation and environmental education outreach organization based in the headwaters of Scatter Creek in the Chehalis Watershed of Western Washington.
Students participated in Water Quality Monitoring of Scatter Creek and the Mill Pond Conservancy to determine if the water quality is optimal for salmon spawning. The water quality test results conducted by the students will be used by the WA State Department of Ecology Chehalis Water Basin Consortium.
The field trip was in collaboration with TMS teacher Kayla Rankel and her 7th grade science students, Creekside Conservancy, Friends of Tenino Park, and Rachel Stendahl with ESD113.
