Snow in the Forecast Tenino Families, Snow is in the forecast for later this week. This will not impact any student who is currently receiving remote learning. However, inclement weather would impact students who receive in-person learning. If in-person learning is cancelled students will then be shifted to remote learning on any cancelled in-person days. There will be no food service when in-person learning is cancelled. So, how will you know if your child’s in-person has been cancelled? The District will communicate in the following ways: --Posting any changes on Facebook and the District website --Email families via Skyward email (please ensure your information is current in Skyward) --Text notification if your mobile device is the primary number listed in the Skyward system --Robo calls --Because of how our notification systems work, you may receive emails, texts and/or robocalls even if your child is in remote learning or not scheduled for that particular day. --Media outlets

February 1, 2021 Dear Tenino Families, In collaboration with our employee groups the District now has solid dates to reopen in-person. As in the previous plan we will be using a hybrid A/B model with students in group ‘A’ attending all day on Mondays and Thursdays, group ‘B’ students attending all day on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Wednesday being a remote day for all students. If your child is currently attending school in-person for a special education program they will continue to attend 4 days per week. The school will be communicating with you directly of there is any modification of your child's schedule, You will receive more detailed information from your child’s school about which group your child(ren) will be in, the specific start times and any transition activities that may occur. The start dates are: Grades K-5—February 8, 2021 group A, February 9, 2021 group B Grades 6-8—February 22, 2021 group A, February 23, 2021 group B When the Thurston County transmission rate falls to about 200 cases per 100,000 then Grades 9-12 would be able to begin at a date to be determined. Important Notes: Previously we asked you to select either the in-person or remote learning option for your child(ren). In addition, we asked if you planned on having your child(ren) ride the bus to and/or from school. • IF you have changed your preference, contact your child’s school ASAP. Otherwise, we will plan for your child(ren) to receive the program you have originally chosen. • You will be contacted by First Student if you chose to access bus transportation. Please contact your child(ren)’s school if you have changed your preference regarding transportation. • For families choosing in-person learning, we will be requiring families to complete a quarterly attestation. If you have not done so you can access the attestation form here. We will continue to do daily screening and temperature checks for all in-person students. We have been asked, what gives you confidence we can operate schools safely in a hybrid model? Essentially, the State and County departments of health are clear that the modeling data and school experiences across Washington State have shown mitigation measures, including cohorts, symptom screening, robust contact tracing, mask wearing, physical distancing, facility cleaning, and hygiene mitigate the risks and are highly effective in reducing school transmission. Click here to read our County health officers letter to schools. We look forward to reopening and are anxious to see students back on campus. Regards, Joe Belmonte

Dear Tenino Families: It is with great reluctance I am letting you know that we will need to delay the start of hybrid instruction at Parkside, Tenino Elementary, and Tenino Middle School. We will continue, with no change, the remote learning model. In addition, students currently being served in-person will continue with their programs. My last communication to you, which included the survey, was based on the State and local health department guidance that permitted school districts to begin a phased reopening. Please click here to view the County health officer’s recent letter. Recently, concerns have arisen around the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine and additional safety measures that may be needed to reopen. We are continuing to work collaboratively with our stakeholders to alleviate these concerns so we will be able to return to in-person instruction as safely as possible. I am extremely sorry to share this message to you. Until we reopen, we will continue to plan and prepare for hybrid instruction and be ready to transition to in-person learning. I recognize this disruption continues to have a significant impact on our students, our families, and our staff. Regards, Joe Belmonte

Dear Tenino Families, Guidance we received just prior to the winter break from the State and Thurston County Department of Health will permit schools to begin in-person learning beginning with elementary students, as long as our county remains in the "moderate" or "low" COVID-19 transmission range as defined by our state's health authority.  We are planning to reopen in-person using a hybrid A/B model with students in group ‘A’ attending all day on Mondays and Thursdays, group ‘B’ students attending all day on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Wednesday being a remote day for all students.  Please click here for more information and to take the survey:  http://bit.ly/TSD_Back2School
